Manchester United’s 32-year-old midfielder Casemiro has reportedly agreed to leave the club in the January transfer window, bringing an end to his tumultuous spell at Old Trafford.
The Brazilian’s departure has been on the cards since the summer, but a lack of suitable offers kept him at the club for the 2024-25 campaign.
A Sharp Decline in Form
Casemiro’s performances this season have been underwhelming, with many citing a significant decline in his physical abilities.
His display in the 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle United on Monday was particularly disappointing, leading to widespread criticism.
The midfielder was substituted in the 65th minute, and it appears that his time at Manchester United is drawing to a close.
Saudi Pro League Clubs Circle
According to reports, Casemiro has given the green light to an exit from Manchester United, with several Saudi Pro League clubs vying for his signature.
The likes of Al-Ahli, Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al Ettifaq, and Al Quadisiya are all said to be interested in securing the Brazilian’s services.
The Saudi Public Investment Fund is reportedly yet to decide which club would be the best fit for Casemiro.
A Nominal Fee for Eriksen?
While Casemiro’s departure appears imminent, Christian Eriksen’s future at Manchester United is also uncertain.
The Danish midfielder is entering the final six months of his contract, and the Red Devils may be forced to accept a nominal fee for him in January to avoid losing him for nothing in the summer.
Other Manchester United Players Who Could Leave in January
Victor Lindelof, who is also out of contract in 2025, could be another player to depart Manchester United in January.
