Cristiano Ronaldo Reacts To Omission From The List Of Top 10 Best Footballers In 2023

Cristiano Ronaldo responds to exclusion from an official list of football’s top players in 2023.

The Portugal icon boasts 37 goals in 39 matches following his move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr in January.

Ronaldo missed out on the 30 Ballon d’Or nominees for the first time since 2003.

The International Federation of Football History and Statistics have excluded football’s all-time leading goalscorer from their top-ten for 2023.

The organisation released it’s annual rankings for the ten best footballers in the world earlier this week, with Manchester City‘s Erling Haaland being voted the best player of the year.

Kylian Mbappe placed second in the rankings, while Ronaldo’s long-standing rival Lionel Messi was voted third, having also won his eighth Ballon d’Or earlier this year.

Man City stars Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva also made the list, along with Real Madrid‘s Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior, plus Bayern Munich‘s Harry Kane.

The list was shared by Portuguese outlet A Bola on Instagram – and Ronaldo made his feelings clear in the comment section.

He put three laughing emojis followed by a monkey with its eyes shielded.

It is not the first time Ronaldo has used Instagram to express his opinion on this year’s football awards.

After Messi collected his eighth Ballon d’Or in October, Ronaldo posted a series of laughing emojis on a video which showed a Spanish pundit criticising the vote.

Messi now has three more Ballon d’Ors than Ronaldo, while the Inter Miami superstar also boasts a World Cup winners medal over his rival following Argentina’s success at Qatar 2022.

Ronaldo has only failed to score in just four of the games he’s played in in the league this season.
