Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has thrown his weight behind under-fire striker Rasmus Hojlund, insisting the Danish forward is “trying really hard” despite his struggles in front of goal.
Hojlund’s form has been a concern for the Red Devils, with the 22-year-old managing just seven goals in 36 appearances this season.
Hojlund’s Difficulties
Hojlund’s drought in the Premier League has stretched to over three months, with his last goal coming in December.
The striker’s difficulties were on full display against Real Sociedad in the Europa League, where he drew another blank.

Despite his struggles, Amorim remains confident in Hojlund’s abilities, highlighting his work rate and movement off the ball.
Amorim’s Verdict
“He’s trying really hard. He gave everything. He makes the runs,” Amorim said in a post-match interview.
“We know that he also has to play against a high line, and he uses this space to win, to fight.
The other things are going to appear in the right moment.” Amorim also addressed Diogo Dalot’s missed opportunity to deliver a cross to Hojlund in the first half, saying that the decision-making process was not ideal.
Summer Transfer Plans
Despite Amorim’s backing, Manchester United are reportedly set to bring in a new striker this summer.
Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray, is a top target, while Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres and Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta are also being considered.
Joshua Zirkzee’s future at Old Trafford is uncertain, although the Netherlands international has been one of the team’s bright spots in recent games.
What’s Next for Hojlund?
With the summer transfer window looming, Hojlund’s future at Manchester United remains uncertain.
Will he be able to rediscover his form and cement his place in the team, or will the arrival of a new striker push him down the pecking order? Only time will tell.
