Mikel Merino‘s extra-time goal secured a 2-1 victory for Spain over Germany, sending them to the Euro 2024 semifinals!
Spain started the match with intensity, registering the first shot on target through Pedri.
However, Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella went down after a soft collision with Emre Can but is now ready to continue.
Toni Kroos mistimed a tackle on Pedri, sending the Spain midfielder cartwheeling through the air.
Referee Anthony Taylor was immediately surrounded by complaining players from both sides but dismissed them.
Kroos got a touch on the ball, which likely spared him a booking.
A distraught Pedri was forced off the pitch with an injury sustained in that challenge with Kroos. Dani Olmo came on in his place.
