Cristiano Ronaldo Denies Rumours Of Sporting CP Return

Cristiano Ronaldo has dismissed suggestions he is on the cusp of sealing a return to Portuguese side Sporting CP.

Ronaldo has asked current employers Manchester United to listen to offers for him

this summer amid concerns that the Red Devils are not ready to compete for trophies next season, with a number of sides tipped to move for the 37-year-old.

Sporting, Ronaldo’s former side, are one of those to have been linked with the striker and

social media went into overdrive recently after a photo emerged of what was claimed to be Ronaldo’s car at Sporting’s Estadio Jose Alvalade.

However, according to the man himself, the story isn’t true.

On an Instagram post about the alleged presence of his car at Sporting’s stadium, Ronaldo simply wrote: “Fake.”

Ronaldo has been absent from United’s pre-season tour this summer due to ‘personal reasons’ and missed the chance to face former team-mate Nani, who turned out for Melbourne Victory on Friday as Erik ten Hag’s side roared to a 4-1 victory.

After the game, Nani admitted that Ronaldo has been dodging his efforts to try and discuss a possible transfer.

“I hope [he will stay at United],” Nani said.

“He’s an important player and a player who always makes a difference. I hope he’s in a good mood to help the club.

“I tried to talk to him but when he’s on vacation he doesn’t answer the phone. He said, ‘I’m so busy now, we’ll talk soon’.”
