FA Cup Quarter Final Draw: Manchester United v Liverpool

The draw for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup was made before the fifth round ties on Wednesday night, resulting in a matchup between Manchester United and Liverpool.

Manchester United secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, courtesy of a late Casemiro goal, while Liverpool comfortably defeated Southampton 3-0 at Anfield, with teenagers Lewis Koumas and Jayden Danns (twice) scoring the goals.

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott commented on the upcoming match, describing it as “another tough game” and acknowledging the relentless schedule of matches.

Manchester City secured their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with an impressive 6-2 victory over Luton Town.

Erling Haaland‘s remarkable performance saw him become the first top-division player since George Best in 1970 to score five goals in an FA Cup game.

Meanwhile, Newcastle and Leicester City also advanced on Tuesday, with Newcastle winning a penalty shootout against Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City needing extra time to overcome Bournemouth.

Coventry, currently ninth in the Championship, emerged as the lowest-ranked team remaining in the competition after defeating sixth-tier Maidstone United in the fifth round.

The quarterfinals will take place over the weekend of March 16.

The semi-finals follow on the weekend of 20 April, with the final on 25 May.
