Manchester United have confirmed a final pre-season friendly of the summer against Rayo Vallecano on 31 July that will serve as new manager Erik ten Hag’s first game at Old Trafford.
The Red devil’s already had five summer friendlies scheduled throughout July during
what will be an important time for Ten Hag to start putting his own stamp on a squad that massively underperformed under multiple managers in 2021/22.
Having not been on a pre-season tour since 2019 because of the Covid-19 pandemic,
United will kick off this summer with a clash against Premier League rivals Liverpool in Thailand on 12 July.
That is quickly followed by a trip to Australia for friendlies against Melbourne Victory and
Crystal Palace at the MCG, before then facing Aston Villa in Perth.
Ten Hag and his squad will return to Europe after that, heading to Norway for a sell-out match against Atletico Madrid in Oslo currently scheduled for 30 July.

The Rayo Vallecano clash back in Manchester comes just 24 hours later, but it will mean that
the whole squad will have a chance to get game minutes in their legs in the final week before the 2022/23 season begins for real in early August.
The club’s opening fixture of the new Premier League campaign will be played on the weekend of 6/7 August.
The season will then pause in mid-November for the World Cup, with fixtures to resume on 26 December, eight days after the World Cup final.
