Real Madrid make the short trip to Vallecas on Monday night knowing that a win against Rayo Vallecano will put them back on top of LaLiga Santander.
Los Blancos’ draw last weekend against Girona allowed Barcelona to make up ground and now the Blaugrana are top by two points after they beat Almeria on Saturday night.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side have a game in hand, however, and victory would mean they go into the final round of games before the World Cup as LaLiga Santander leaders.
After the frustrations of last weekend’s goalless draw, Real Madrid got back into the goalscoring habit against Celtic on Wednesday, putting five past the Scottish champions.
If they score three against Rayo, they will also lead LaLiga Santander in goals scored.
Rayo, meanwhile, come into this one on good form, having won their last two games and unbeaten in their last four,
including a draw away to Atletico Madrid and a win at Sevilla.
