Gabriel Jesus Ruled Out Of Emirates Cup As Arsenal Facing Monaco

Gabriel Jesus wil miss Arsenal vs monaco

Arsenal will be without Gabriel Jesus as they are preparing to face Monaco in the Emirates Cup in the final preseason match.

This will be the final piece of preparation before taking on Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday afternoon.

Jesus was not included in Mikel Arteta’s squad as they prepare to host the Ligue 1 outfit at their north London home.

The Brazilian has been in good form during pre-season, as Arsenal look to make a flying start to their Premier League campaign.

But his exclusions could provide an opportunity to Eddie Nketiah, who has been waiting in the wings behind the Brazilian.

Folarin Balogun has missed the last two fixtures and has been training alone, with Arteta insisting he has a foot injury.

The American has been heavily linked with an exit from the Emirates after interest from Inter and AC Milan.

But with Jesus out, it could be an opportunity for Balogun to impress.

The nature of Jesus’ absence is unclear but an injury would be a huge blow with the start of the season in a fortnight’s time.

If Arsenal and Monaco can’t be separated after 90 minutes, the shots-on-target rule will be used to decide the winners.

Arsene Wenger will be a guest of honour for Arsenal’s today against Monaco, another of his former clubs.
