Paul Merson Urge Arsenal To Consider Signing Ivan Toney Following A Disappointing Defeat To Fulham

Ivan Toney to Arsenal

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has advocated for the club to address their scoring issues by acquiring Brentford standout Ivan Toney in January, especially with Gabriel Jesus, Saka, and Martinelli experiencing a goal drought.

Arteta’s team suffered their second defeat in three days against Fulham, placing Mikel Arteta’s side in 4th position after leading the league at Christmas.

Arsenal’s challenges in scoring have been evident throughout December, leading to Gabriel Jesus being benched in favor of Eddie Nketiah during their visit to west London.

Arteta wants to enter the market for a new centre forward this month, but Arsenal are walking a financial fair play tightrope.

Nevertheless, Merson says it’s ‘simple’ and that the Gunners must go out and sign Toney.

‘Arsenal have to go and get Toney, simple!’ said Merson.

‘It’s not over yet.’

Toney is set to return to action this month when his eight-month ban for gambling offences ends.

Brentford are minded to cash in on the striker but they want £100m.

Chelsea are Arsenal’s main competitors for the striker’s signature.
