Thomas Partey is set to miss the rest of 2023 after he undergone a specialist procedure for treatment on a thigh injury.

The former Atletico Madrid midfielder has been wearing a leg brace to try and bolster his recovery but the latest setback means his absence will be even longer than first expected.

There is also the added complication of the Africa Cup of Nations in January because Ghana will want him to report up but his participation looks in serious doubt.

Mikel Arteta is now facing a growing injury list at the Emirates Stadium with Partey joining the likes of Jurrien Timber, Gabriel Jesus, Martin Odegaard, Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka – who are all recovering from their own concerns.

The 30-year-old has been plagued by injuries over the last few years with two separate issues already keeping him out for over six weeks since the 2023/24 season began.

As Partey begins his recovery, the Gunners are preparing to face Burnley ahead of the November international break.
